The
Draft Statement of Community Involvement
The District Council has produced its
first Draft SCI, which has been published for public
participation purposes. It enables the community to
know how and when they will be involved in the preparation
of Local Development Documents and how they will be
consulted on planning applications. Although the Statement
of Community Involvement will not have development plan
status it will be subject to public consultation and
independent examination. Once adopted in April 2006
it will be binding on the Council.
The Wychavon District Statement
of Community Involvement – Submission Document
(September 2005) is a statutory planning document
and comprises a Local Development Document (LDD) within
the newly established Local
Development Framework (LDF).
The Council's Executive approved the
draft Statement of Community Involvement on 14th June
2005 (for public participation). A copy of this document
can be viewed on the website under committee reports
and minutes. Subsequently it was approved by Council
on 6th September 2005.to be submitted to the Government
Office. This may be viewed in pdf and
word format by clicking on the following links for:
A
copy of all representations received on the SCI can

Current consultation stage:
public participation
The Statement of Community Involvement
– Submission Document is now subject to public
participation. Written or electronic responses can be
submitted to the District Council using the on-line
response form (in word format) between Monday 26th
September 2005 and 5.00 p.m on 4th November 2005. The
response form can also be downloaded and posted to the
District Council. Details of the formal public participation
process are provided within the Public
Notice which has been published in the local press.
There are detailed guidance notes accompanying the response
form, which will assist you in making your comments.
In addition to the above, the District
Council has also produced a Revised
Consultation Statement which is required by legislation
and sets out the steps that the Council has undertaken
to publicise the Draft SCI. The Consultation Statement
will also show you which organisations and individuals
we have consulted with directly about the Revised Draft
SCI.
We have also produced a Questionnaire
associated with the Draft SCI and planning consultation
generally.
All Town and Parish Councils have been
sent copies of the Draft SCI. The SCI can also be inspected
the locations specified in the Public Notice and local
libraries.
What happens next?
The Statement will then be appraised
in the light of comments received. The Council will
submit the Statement in September 2005 to the Secretary
of State for independent examination. There will be
a six-week period for making formal representations
from that date.
