Vale Arts Trail 2009

The Vale Arts Trail was a great success for its first attempt. Throughout October, 38 exhibitions of local artists took place in galleries, shops, parks, cafes, churches, gardens and artist’s studios across Pershore, Evesham, Cropthorne, Broadway and Beckford.

There was a great variety of mediums including paintings, pottery, sculpture and photography. Also an array of workshops took place for children, young people and adults.

Particularly The Big Draw in Evesham was very successful creating Evesham's largest map with over 80 people drawing their experiences of Evesham.

The Showell Gallery

We are now looking for next years artists to exhibit in 2D work at The Showell Gallery, Civic Centre, Pershore over 2010. Each exhibition will last 3 months and we are particularly looking for modern work, including photography that has a link to the area, however is not necessarily.

There are 5 boards available.

YOUNG FILM-MAKERS PRODUCE FILM

Short film drama made by a group of young film-makers now available for local screenings

St Lawrence’s Church in Evesham is cared for by The Churches Conservation Trust which is the National Charity protecting historic churches at risk. It inspired the making of the film From These Stones’.

Supported by The Churches Conservation Trust, the young people researched the history and heritage of the church and uncovered its turbulent and dramatic past. Working with The Rural Media Company they then learnt digital film-making skills and devised the storyline that would eventually form the basis of the screenplay for From These Stones’.

‘From These Stones’ explores the emotional and powerful connection that the church plays in the life of a young woman in present day Evesham, as wars of the past come frighteningly to life in the war of the present.
